Where can I download a Mac OS X driver for a Music Fairy USB sound card?
I've been looking everywhere for a driver for a Music Fairy USB sound card that I bought. The sound card came with a driver cd but it's a mini-disc and my Macbook slot drive doesn't take it. Does anyone know where I can download a Mac driver for it? Apparently, the sound card contains a chipset by C-Media Electronics Inc.?
I have tried plugging it in and my Mac doesn't acknowledge it, as in nothing happens. However, it is listed in the "USB" section of my Macbook info screen under "Generic Audio Device". Does that mean it needs a driver?
USB and associated specifications allow a wide range of devices to work without any additional drivers. So if the Mac isn't asking for a driver and is listing the device as an audio device you're probably good to go.
You do now have several audio devices on you machine, so you will need to pick which one the computer's to use. I'm not on my Mac currently (and I rarely boot it into OS X anyway), but have a click around the audio settings and eventually you should find a picker for audio input and output.
