I'd keep the case open, make sure you have decent air flow (ie a big fan at the front and a big fan at the back - side fan optional), also UNDERclock the CPU if your bios has the options, set the CPU voltage as low as you can without making it unstable (mine's at 2.8v). Lower ram speed, get a decent cooler for your CPU & make sure thermal paste is applied correctly. Around 50c should be max for constant use when CPU is not under load (depending on what chip you have). Also, enable Speedstep if available.
