This truck is developing a bad stutter when under load. Backfires through exhaust as well, and is worse when in overdrive. The fuel pressure regulator, EGR valve, and MAP sensor have all been replaced (by the owner) for this concern, but nothing changed. There are no faults stored, however, with the DRB II, I have had secondary indicators trip for "No crankshaft reference signal to PCM" and "MAP sensor voltage too high." I might also add that I cannot communicate with any other modules: bus + and bus - open. I am only a light drive tech, so this goes over my head. Any help is appreciated!
you may have an open harness somewhere that's making it not communicate with the pcm,,and on the back firing issue you could also have too much wear in the timing chain and that will create a situation as to where the timing cannot be set good enough on it for it to run right,i went through this with one about a month ago,the owner had spent a lot of money at another shop trying to get it right and they couldn't figure it out,come find out the timing chain was about to break in it,from being worn out,this may be something you want to check in to,but on the pcm,you may have a bad spot in the harness,i fixed a wrecked one back and over looked a bad spot in the harness that caused it to do the same thing,good luck on it,hope you find it.
