I am building my own computer and am researching different options. I have heard of motherboards with two CPU's hooked up to it but I don't know if the type of CPU is limited when you have 2 on the same motherboard. I have only seen Xeon processors in this configuration. My computer will need to be very fast for 3d gaming and I plan on overclocking the computer. I would like to be able to use 2 Dual core processors. The motherboard will need to be able to accommodate a large amount of RAM, be able to run high end graphic cards and will need a BIOS that lets me overclock the computer. Suggestions for what motherboard would be great.
If I run a server board on my PC will I still be able to do all the things I can normally do on my computer?
Forget about buying two separate processors for quad core, and just buy an Intel quad core processor. You will save alot of money. How much RAM do you need, for 8GB surely is more than overkill, and most motherboards now support this as standard. Any premium motherboard will let you overclock. If you are planning on gaming then stick most of your resources in the RAM and video card.
